Born in 2016 from a shared passion at coffee championships, MAME - named after the Japanese word for 'beans'-was founded by Emi and Mathieu to create a community around specialty coffee at its finest. Rooted in a deep dedication to Japanese craftsmanship, those same championships remain an ongoing journey for MAME: a constant drive to learn, push boundaries, and build lasting friendships through coffee.

Emi Fukahori

Born in Japan and now based in Zurich, Emi co-founded MAME with the dream of creating a space to celebrate the beauty of specialty coffee. In addition to competing and coaching championship contenders, she travels the world, sharing her passion for brewing and coffee extraction.

Mathieu Theis

Born in France and now calling Zurich home, Mathieu co-founded MAME with the belief that specialty coffee could transform lives—just as it did for him. Always in search of exceptional green coffee to roast at MAME, he is also dedicated to growing the MAME community in Switzerland and beyond.
